Breast Lift Scottsdale

Breast Lift in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Gilbert, Mesa, and Surrounding AZ Cities

Breast lift plastic surgery removes excess skin and tissue to reshape and support a new breast contour. This surgery is perfect for women whose breasts have begun to droop – mostly as a result of pregnancy or aging. It’s normal for the skin to lose elasticity as part of the aging process. When this happens, the breasts lose their natural shape and begin to sag. Physical changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding may also cause drooping breasts. Dr. Jude LaBarbera helps women from Gilbert, Scottsdale, Phoenix and the surrounding Arizona areas restore a youthful, perky breast appearance. Some women with drooping breasts also choose to have breast implants inserted in order to increase the size of their breasts. Dr. LaBarbera works closely with each one of his patients to help achieve that desired, shapely breast look.

IDEAL CANDIDATES FOR BREAST LIFT

  • Wish to lift flat, sagging or drooping breasts
  • Wish to have fuller, shapelier breasts
  • Wish to reposition or reshape your nipples
  • Wish to increase the volume, size, and stature of your breasts

Before choosing to move forward with the procedure, it is important for each patient to go through available options. An initial consultation is important for both the patient and the surgeon. Dr. LaBarbera will ask questions about medical history, health, concerns, and expectations from the surgery. He will also discuss the surgical technique to be used, and answer any questions you may have about scarring, recovery, and other elements of the surgery.

Surgical technique

Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes three hours to complete. Dr. LaBarbera will determine the best incision technique to use for each patient based on the breast size and shape, size and positioning of the areolas, extent of drooping, and quality of the patient’s skin. The incision may be made around the areola, vertically down from the areola, horizontally along the breast crease, or a combination of these. Once the incision is made, the surgeon will reshape and lift the underlying breast tissue to improve breast firmness and contouring. The nipple and areola may also be repositioned to achieve a natural and more appealing height. Excess breast skin will be removed to compensate for the loss of elasticity, and enlarged areolas may be reduced to match the new breast shape/appearance. Dr. LaBarbera will then tighten the remaining skin and close the incisions using layered sutures. Like with all surgeries, some scars may be visible after the surgery. He will pursue the best possible technique to achieve the desired results with minimal scarring. Results of breast lift surgery are immediately visible.

After surgery

Recovery after breast lift plastic surgery varies from one patient to the other. Feeling tired and exhausted after breast lift surgery is perfectly normal. These feelings will fade away after a while. Dr. LaBarbera will encourage patients to gently move around 48 hours after the surgery. However, activities that may cause strain are strictly prohibited. That means you will not be able to lift any heavy items in the first few weeks after surgery. Exercise should also be avoided within 6-8 weeks after breast lift surgery.

While scars may be quite visible after surgery, these fade away with time – and will become less noticeable. Some patients tend to experience pain after the surgery, which can be relieved using a mild painkiller. Aspirin should be avoided though because it can cause bleeding. Any swelling and bruising will subside within a month.

Taking a shower may be possible, but it is very important to keep the breast dressings intact and dry. Dr. LaBarbera will provide instructions on dressing and showering in order to ensure an uninterrupted healing process.

Planning your procedure

Taking the time to plan for your procedure is important to ensure that everything goes well during the recovery process. Breast lift surgery costs between $5, 000 and $9, 000. If the patient needs to add breast implants, the cost of the procedure will significantly shoot up. Because breast lift procedures are not considered a medical necessity, insurance typically does not cover these costs. The average procedure time is 2-4 hours, and most of the recovery takes place within 4 weeks.

Dr. Jude LaBarbera performs breast lift surgery at his Scottsdale and Gilbert (AZ) office, supported by a team of highly professional and licensed staff. Patients can expect optimal care during and following the procedure.

Do I need a breast lift or breast augmentation?

Whether to have a lift or augmentation surgery is influenced by your aesthetic goals. A breast lift surgery helps correct sagging or drooping breasts. Many patients are happy with the new shape, size, and the higher chest wall position of their breasts. However, if the patient needs to increase the volume of their breasts, then an augmentation (breast implants procedure) will resolve this. Your consultation with Dr. Jude LaBarbera will help you figure out what type of procedure you need – based on your expectations. In some cases, patients do need a combination of these two procedures (breast augmentation with lift).

Does breast lift include nipple repositioning?

Depending on the patient, it may be necessary to reposition the nipple and areola so that it is proportional to the new breast shape. The goal is for the nipple and areola to be within a normal size and position on the ‘lifted’ breast.

How bad is the scarring?

Scarring is inevitable after any surgical procedure where incisions are made. This is where Dr. Jude LaBarbera immense experience comes in. He will make strategic incisions to achieve the best results while at the same time minimizing scarring. Where possible, Dr. LaBarbera will make incisions along the breast’s natural contouring. His post-surgery scar care problem is ideal to help patients’ scars heal faster.

How many follow-up visits are required?

Scheduled follow up appointments are necessary after breast lift surgery. These provide an opportunity for Dr. LaBarbera and his team to monitor your recovery process. The number of appointments will vary from one patient to the other.
